Class 12. Mrs Lakin
Welcome to Class 12
Mrs A. Lakin – Teacher
Mrs A. Brown – LSA
The Spring term has started with a bang after starting back at school with our World War Two day! The children are all really excited about our topic and eager to learn all about life during the Second World War.
Our topic is World War Two. We will be learning about; why the war began and the countries that were involved, evacuees, rationing, the role of women, significant events (such as the D-Day landings) and the Holocaust. We will also be focusing on Lowry in Art and will be making Anderson shelters in D&T.
In English we have been writing persuasive letters to Theresa May and will soon be moving on to writing stories that we hope to submit to the BBC Radio 2 competition! We will also be looking at war poetry and novels based on WWII.
In Mathematics we work in groups to ensure that our lessons suit the children’s needs. All children are taught by Mrs Lakin and Mrs Brown, Mrs Mistry, Mrs Halford or Mrs Houlton.
In Science our topic is light. We are investigating all aspects of light and how we see, and we are planning lots of cool experiments!
PE kits are essential on Mondays and Thursdays. Our sports focus is currently athletics and dance.
Home learning remains a key part of our children’s education this will include;
Reading comprehension and maths tasks; a creative project every half term and weekly practise of spellings and times tables.
