Exploring Weather - January 2017

We have had a marvellous time exploring the winter weather.

In December we went out into the frost, observing all of the changes that a ground frost brings.

We saw beautiful ice crystals and frosty spider webs, slippery puddles and frozen spiky grass. When we got inside we thought of lots of words to describe our frozen playground including, shimmering, sparkly, crunchy and glistening.

This week we had an exhilarating time exploring stormy and windy weather.

First we listened to the sound of the wind in the trees and then we gathered ribbons, carrier bag kites and bubbles and watched them fly as we ran around the playground.

The wind kept changing direction so we described it as ‘swirling’ and ‘whirling’ just like in the Bear hunt story.
