Welcome to Stonebow’s School Council web page.
We are the current School Councillors and we are really excited about the year ahead. We would like to share a little information about who we are, how we became councillors as well as some of the exciting developments in school that we are involved with.
Who We Are:
There are two of us representing each class and we meet every Wednesday lunch time with Mrs Bailey.
How We Became School Council Members:
To become a school councillor, you must nominate yourself to take part in the voting system. After nominations, you are allowed to explain to your class why you would be a good representative. Your class will then vote for who they believe will best represent their interests in the role of a school councillor. So we have all been elected by our classes!
What We Do:
We represent our class and put across any ideas or problems that they want to put before school council. Previously, projects such as obtaining our Bronze and Silver Eco Awards have been undertaken, as well as working alongside the local community and actively participating in important changes within the school. Our latest adventure, which started at the end of last year, is to continue with our Fairtrade Friday Tuckshop. This is a non-profit making enterprise run by us as councillors to support our wider community. We are really excited by this, as well as our upcoming composting project, cloakroom competitions and looking after the tidiness of our school grounds.
