World War II Day - January 2018

What a fabulous start to the new term we had.  Our second day back at school was spent learning about different aspects of life during world War II.  The children and adults dressed up for the occassion in a range of different costumes including: military, evacuees, land girls and code breakers.

During the day the children rotated around different groups and took part in a range of interesting activities.  These included:

Learning how to march and parade like a soldier with Mr Lees and singing wartime songs with Mrs Panni.

Tasting wartime alternatives cooked by Mrs Mistry and becoming a code breaker with Mrs Lakin.

Learning how to make do and mend with Mrs Brown and Mrs Houlton and finally how to do some wartime dances with Miss Holmes.

We all had a brilliant day and learnt so many new things.

Do you know why a naval salute is different to one used in the army and RAF?

Here are some more photos showing the fun we had.
