Adam Guillain, children's author visit - February 2017

To mark National Story Telling Week we arranged a visit from children’s author Adam Guillain.

He launched the day by sharing one of his books, ‘Pizza for Pirates’, with the whole school complete with music and puppetry by Mrs Pitchers!

He then took each year group in turn and told them another story complete with actions. As you can see from the photos the children sat totally enthralled. The Year Sixes were treated to a workshop where they learnt to write and tell their own stories using a story map.

Many children have told us they have been treating parents to a bedtime story instead of listening to one!

His books were on sale afterwards and many children now have their own signed copies of titles such as ‘Spaghetti with the Yeti’, ‘Marshmallows for Martians’ and ‘Supermarket Gremlins’ and books from the Bella Balistica series written for older children.

Adam commented on the friendly reception he had received and remarked that Stonebow is obviously a very happy school where children love to read!

Please read some of the quotes from our Foundation Stage parents, following Adam's visit:

"What a wonderful storytelling!!! Aala was unstoppable when she came home. She wanted to tell me all about her exciting day and the stories she heard. She also made sure that I know the exact name of the author. Brilliant!"

"The boys were very enthusiastic about having a real author visit the school. Very motivational.”

“Looks great. Kids are clearly absorbed by the story telling. Thanks for putting this on Stonebow.”

“Harry was very excited to tell me about the stories. Thank you.”

“Looks like all the children had fun. Jake watched the clips with me and was really excited to tell me all about it :)”
