Cross Country Competition - May 2018

The annual Loughborough Primary School Cross Country event took place on Tuesday 1st May at Woodbrook Vale High School. It started with the mixed race of the Year 3 and 4 boys. Kyle Long was the first runner to cross the finish line from Stonebow finishing in a brilliant 4th place. He was shortly followed by three runners in quick succession: Rylee Cholerton, Oliver Lauda and Ollie Laws came home in 13th, 16th and 17th place respectively. We then hit a large flurry as Zak Lauda, Logan Chouhan, Reuben Parker, Cameron Bassi, Aadil Kibria and Henry Baker all finished close together.

The second race of the day was the Year 3 and 4 girls race, which saw Stonebow’s first and only winner of the day. Caitlyn Brooks came home in excellent style winning by half a field! She was followed by Bethan Lickess finishing in a very credible 10th place and running a brilliant race. Zahra Hossain, Heyam El-Sabae, Sophie Drewitt, Courtney Harvey and Zuzanna Nadolna all came home in quick succession.

The Year 5 and 6 boys then took their turn. Miles Foord, as always, ran an experienced race coming home in 5th place. Another Stonebow runner was right on his tail as Aidan Seed come in behind in 6th place and Finlay Cheetham placed shortly behind, also in the top 10. Our other three boys: Daniel Lickess, Mikey Willson and Toby Coyne followed shortly after finishing in respectable places.

Our final race was the Year 5 and 6 girls. Martha Dodds led the way for the girls and came home in a wonderful 3rd place, sitting in 5th place until the final corner and giving her everything to take over 2 runners on the home straight. Imogen Graham and Darcie Mace ran the race together, running side by side for the duration and finished 12th and 13th place. Charlotte Buckland and Anaiya Chouhan were another couple who used each other to keep going, pulling each other home and finishing in 16th and 17th place, followed shortly after by Paige Partridge.

Well done to everyone who took part. It was great to see all of the runners demonstrating their Stonebow Learning Power of Resilience.
