Kingswood - October 2019
Day 1
Well what a fabulous first day we've had at Kingswood. Despite a delayed start, we arrived at the centre to a fantastic cooked lunch of jacket potatoes, pasta, bolognaise sauce and a salad bar. Having filled our tummies, we were ready for our first activities.
The Obstacle Course
Buggy Building
Team Tech
The children were split into four teams and given challenges to build models with giant Meccano pieces.
Just look at what we built!!!
After the activities, we feasted upon a scrumptious dinner of sausages or chicken pie and mash before going up to our dormitories and unpacking. This was followed by an evening of fun playing 'Mini Olympics'. Even the teachers joined in the fun having a three legged race.
We were certainly ready for a good night's sleep after such a busy first day.
Day 2
The day has started with a lovely blue sky, we can't wait to see what activities we will be doing today.
Fencing
Bushcraft - Fire Lighting
Here we are rummaging in the fir trees and undergrowth looking for 'gear 1' kindling to start our fires.
Crate Stack
The 'builders' stacked up the crates to make a tower enabling two children to climb higher and higher, whilst the rest of the children held the rope, keeping the slack, known as 'belaying'. Even Mrs Mistry, Mrs Brown and Mrs Halford managed to climb the tower.
Obstacle Course
The last group had their turn on the obstacle course, squashing themselves into the 'washing machine'.
After our American themed dinner, we played dodgeball and enjoyed singing and hot chocolate around the campfire with Joe and Luke (our Kingswood Leaders).
Day 3
More fun filled activities today...
At the end of busy day we were certainly glad to tuck into a delicious dinner of lasagna or chicken ratoutille pasta bake with garlic bread and ice cream for pudding.
After dinner the children enjoyed a movie night watching The Incredibles in our classroom wearing their PJ's and snuggled under their duvets.
Day 4 - Thursday
Another fun filled day with new activities to try and challenge ourselves with.
Shelter Building
Problem Solving
'Problem Solving' allowed us to work together to solve a range of different challenges.
Orienteering
Low Ropes
We really had to rely on one another to guide us around the Low Ropes course, especially when we were blindfolded!
Our last night.....all ready for the disco.
We have had a fantastic week.
