Miss Logue - 1CL

Teaching team:

Miss Charlotte Logue (Class teacher)

Mrs Paula Hanley (Learning Support Assistant)

Mrs Allenby (Class teacher every other Wednesday morning)

Welcome to Year 1! We are a class of 27 enthusiastic children in Key Stage 1, who are all excited about learning.

This Term:

Our topic is this term is ‘Under our feet’ and part of our work will answer the question, ‘What might we find under our feet?’ In some of our topic work, we will learn about archaeology, Sir Humphry Davy as well as thinking about our local area and the countries of the UK.

In English work, we will be linking our work to the poem ‘Ladybird, Ladybird. What can you see?’ and the story ‘Arrrgh Spider’ by Lydia Monks.

Mathematics:

In this half term, we will be developing our number and place value knowledge and then moving on to addition and subtraction. We will be learning about the properties of shape with Mrs Allenby.

Science:

Our topic for science this term is Everyday Materials. We will be trying to answer the question ‘How do we use different materials?’ We will also be thinking about Seasonal Changes.

Thursday afternoons:

On a Thursday afternoon the children will have French, music and PE with Madame Allenby, Mr Welsford and Mr Martin. There will be two sessions each afternoon and these will rotate each half term so that the children will get an even amount of all three subjects.
