Welcome to our lovely class of children. We are a mixed class of Year 3 and Year 4 children who are all really excited about learning. We are enthusiastic, eager and ready to work together to make wonderful things happen this year! Team work most certainly makes the dream work!
This Term: Our topic this term is Incredible India. We will be exploring ‘How has Indian culture influenced the world?’ We are launching our topic with a day of immersion into Indian culture where we will experience Bhangra dancing, food tasting and we will use water colours to create Indian artwork. In our English lessons, we will be reading the story of Rama and Sita and we will eventually write our own story based on this structure. In R.E, we will be learning more about Hindu Gods and beliefs to help us answer ‘What do different people believe about God?’ and ‘Why do people pray?’ Class book: ..................................
Mathematics. The children will be in different groups for Maths and taught by either Mrs Lakin, Mr Lees, Mrs Panni or Miss Walsh.
Science. Our topic for Science this term is........
Wednesday afternoons. On a Wednesday afternoon, the children will have either French with Madame Allenby, PE with Mr Martin or Music with Mr Welsford.
PE. In addition to our Wednesday afternoon PE, we will also have PE on a Monday afternoon. Please make sure that PE kits are in school and that earrings are removed in the morning.
Home Learning. This remains a key part of our children’s education. Home Learning tasks (Maths plus one other) will be given out on every third Friday, where children will have two weeks to complete them. We ask that during the week where no official Home Learning task is set that children can really try and focus on learning their times tables.
Times tables – children are expected to instantly recall the following times tables and Year 4 children will sit an online national test at the end of the year.
Year 2 – x2, x5 and x10
Year 3 – x3, x4 and x8
Year 4 – all of the times tables.
