Mrs Bailey & Mrs Kemble

Teaching team:

Mrs Bailey (Weds, Thurs, Fri) and Mrs Kemble (Mon, Tues) - Class Teachers

Mrs Bown – Learning Support Assistant

Welcome to our lovely small class of 22 children. We are a mixed class of Year 3 and Year 4 children who are all really excited about learning. We are enthusiastic, eager and ready to work together to make wonderful things happen this year! Team work most certainly makes the dream work!

This Term:

Our topic this term is Vikings. This theme will be incorporated through our English lessons alongside our Topic work. We’re very lucky to have had a visit from some Viking visitors to launch our topic where we found out lots of new facts about the Vikings. We enjoyed making Viking long ships, exploring artefacts and playing traditional Viking games. Keep an eye on the website for photos!

Class book: James and the Giant Peach – Roald Dahl. A classic. We’re really enjoying it so far!

Mathematics. The children will be in different groups for Maths and taught by either Mrs Bailey/Mrs Kemble, Mrs Lakin, Mrs Street or Miss Walsh.

Science. Our topic for Science this term is Electricity.

Wednesday afternoons. On a Wednesday afternoon up until February half term, the children will have PE with Mr Martin and Music with Mr Welsford. After half term, we will swap and have French with Madame Allenby and PSHE with Mrs Halford. These lessons will continue to swap every half term to ensure consistency throughout all four Year 3/4 classes.

PE. In addition to our Wednesday afternoon PE, we will also have PE on a Thursday morning.  It is essential that a full PE kit is in school all week as we may need to change our days around occasionally.

Home Learning. This remains a key part of our children’s education. Home Learning tasks (Maths plus one other) will be given out on every third Friday, where children will have two weeks to complete them. We ask that during the week where no official Home Learning task is set that children can really try and focus on learning their times tables. These are such a great tool for children in Maths once they have cracked them!

Our Class Message – ‘In a world where you can be anything… Be kind.’
