Year 6 Benjamin Britten

On St Cecelia's day, the 22nd November, Year 6 marked her feast day  - as she is the patron Saint of music - with a musical entertainment! They performed, and introduced, a song 'Ee-oh' from Benjamin Britten's song cycle, Friday Afternoons that he wrote for a school in Prestatyn. The performance enjoyed a rapturous reception last Friday and we hope you enjoy it too!
Year 6 singers accompanied by Malcolm Pullan conducted by Willard Welsford

Learning an instrument at Stonebow

All children in Key Stage 2 are offered the opportunity to learn a musical instrument. We have a great team of peripatetic instrument teachers that currently offer lessons at Stonebow and these are:

  • Mrs Kathy Croft (Flute and Fife)
  • Mr James Martin (Guitar)
  • Mrs Liz Paling (Piano).
  • We are also looking to offer recorder lessons to any interested children.

Some lessons are taught on an individual basis and others in paired or group lessons.  All children that learn an instrument (both inside and outside of school) are offered the opportunity to perform in the annual Summer Soirée.  The Summer Soirée is a wonderful evening whereby the children are able to share their learning with their families, friends and teachers by performing solo pieces or in ensembles.

Please see Miss Turner or the staff in the school office for further details about instrument lessons.
