Rice Bowl Cup - October 2018
Stonebow were knocked out of the Rice Bowl Cup Football competition in the first round with a defeat to Parks Primary School, losing 3-1.
The home side had three clear chances in the match in which all three hit the back of the net with some clinical finishing from the home side.
Despite the loss, Stonebow had more of the ball and the better chances throughout the game, which made it more frustrating for everyone to watch as Stonebow were the stronger team.
We came close to scoring on many occasions, having an open goal blocked on the line, 2 goal-bound corners blocked off the line and also a saved penalty towards the end. It just wasn’t meant to be our day.
Our consolation goal was poked home with 15 minutes to play by William Wright, but the home side defended well to continue to frustrate us.
All of the children used their Stonebow Learning Powers of Perseverance and Cooperation throughout the game, regardless of the finishing score.
A big well done to the Y5/6 boys football team who should all be proud of their performance.
