Superheroes Week - October 2016
Whilst some of the Year 5 & 6 children were enjoying the outdoor adventures in Wales, the remaining children were having a blast with the Superheroes topic at Stonebow.
Throughout the week the children have been experiencing a wide range of creative, problem solving and enrichment activities.
They have created their own Marvel Superhero on the Chrome books which some later developed into a collage using a variety of materials. They used paper, sequins, buttons, fabric, wool and much more. A great deal of care was taken. They look amazing! Others looked at the artwork of Roy Lichtenstein and created a piece of pop art that could be used in a comic strip.
Science experiments created lots of discussion. We looked at chemical reactions, flight and accuracy. Have you ever tried putting a Mentos in a bottle of coke? The results are explosive! (ONLY TO BE CARRIED OUT WITH AN ADULT) Mrs Allenby kept herself clean with her apron on.
Check out our paper aeroplanes. We discovered that the way in which they are made makes a huge difference to how far they travel. How about having a competition at home as a family.
The Stonebow Learning Powers were definitely in use on Wednesday morning whilst they were involved in all of the team building activities. Perseverance, resilience, communication, enthusiasm, curiosity and cooperation had to last throughout all four activities. The egg drop challenge created excitement, the marble run got them thinking, the tallest tower created lots of discussions and the strongest bridge involved lots of measurements!
Please enjoy the photos celebrating our fun filled week.
