Wellbeing Week - October 2018
Whilst half of the Year 5/6 children are away at Mount Cook the rest of us are having lots of fun taking part in a range of activities for Wellbeing Week.
Monday morning - we made and ate our own healthy wraps and learnt about the Eatwell Plate and healthy food groups. We then created our own posters to promote eating healthily.
Despite the drizzle we all went out to walk past the washlands and along the 'Stonebow Walk'. Walking in the fresh air, we chatted, splashed in puddles, watched the ducks on the pond and had a really good time. There were lots of soggy toes when we arrived back in school but that didn't dampen our spirits.
Today we have been taking part in a Yoga/Pilates class with Miss Holmes and conducting observational drawings of fruit, using pastels with Mrs Mistry.
With Madame Allenby the children had lots of fun designing healthy and unhealthy lunch boxes and labelling them in French.
Having drawn the fruits yesterday, today we had the chance to taste them and analyse them based upon; taste, texture, aroma and appearance. We tried avocado, prunes, pomelo, pomegranate and sharon fruit. Mrs Mistry and Mrs Halford were pleasantly surprised at the taste of the prunes as they were not inspired initially by the appearance!
With Miss Holmes we created some fantastic artwork inspired by the artist Jason Ratliff.
This afternoon was spent playing football and rounders with Mr Brockless and Miss Holmes.
