World War II Day - June 2016
On Wednesday 15th June the Year 5 & 6 children together with Mr Lees, Mrs Mistry, Miss Magee, Mrs O'Callaghan, Mrs Brown, Mrs Halford and Mr Stevens, travelled by coach to Beaumanor Hall for a World War II experience day.
During the day every child took part in three very different activities, these were:
- Understanding rationing during the war, shopping and meal planning.
- Intercepting and decoding German messages.
- Experience of a night in an air raid shelter.
It was a brilliant day, we had the opportunity to ask questions, see real artefacts and as many of us were dressed in outfits from the 1940's, we felt very authentic.
