Young Voices - January 2019
Wow, what an amazing day it was! Our Key Stage 2 Stonebow Singers recently returned to the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham to perform at Young Voices for our third year. In the run-up to concert day, all of the Stonebow Singers had worked hard since September to learn all of the words to the thirteen songs and medleys, along with dance routines arranged by the Urban Strides, an incredible street dance crew. There was a lot to learn and all of the perseverance and enthusiasm used to practise at home too certainly paid off.
On the concert day, the children enjoyed the opportunity to get to know some of the singers from the Leicester Youth Chorus on the journey to the arena, which was lovely to see. During the afternoon, the children all worked incredibly hard to rehearse all that they had learned together in the massed choir of 6566 children with the famous conductor David Lawrence, a live band, backing singers and of course, Urban Strides. Some of our Year 6 girls were lucky enough to get a high five from them too! The children were in awe of the special guest performances from Tony Hadley, Beau Dermott and Sharlene Hector.
We were incredibly impressed with how the children kept their energy and enthusiasm going throughout the day and the incredible evening concert and it was great to hear that our supporting families spotted us all singing and dancing away. A huge thank you must go to Mrs Hanley and Kerry for accompanying us on the trip.
We hope you enjoy the photos....
