Friends of Stonebow
Friends of Stonebow (FoS) is a voluntary group of parents and teachers who organise events throughout the year to raise money for the school. We meet at least once a term. Our purpose is to raise funds to enhance the learning experience of the children of Stonebow.
Where does the money go?
All the money raised by FoS goes back to the school, enabling the school to get those extra things to improve the children's learning experience whilst also giving parents, carers etc an opportunity to get involved and 'make a difference'.
Over the last few years, we have been able to fund:
- Playground markings
- Bike racks
- Support for the school library
- School enrichment visits
- Forest School
Every academic year we commit to supporting regular expenditure, which has included - Library subscription, Year 6 celebrations and Year 2/6 revision books.
We also focus on a project that supports the school’s aims. This could be to improve reading, use of IT or improve the learning environment indoor and outdoors to name a few. The more we raise, the more we can do!
Each year we hold 2 discos and a sponsored walk, with a view to looking at new fundraising ideas across the year. For example, in May 2022 we organised a Jubilee Party and a hamper raffle – our first event after 2 years! We had wonderful performances by all the children and the event was well attended by the families.
Without the help of Parents, Carers, Grandparents, Teachers, Governors, support staff and our Headteacher we wouldn’t be able to run these events. It's great fun being part of these events and we would encourage and welcome more people to get involved.
How to Support FoS
If you would like to get involved come along to one of our friendly, informal meetings, everyone is very welcome and your contributions, however big or small, will really make a big difference. It’s also a great way to meet other parents and have some fun.
