Stonebow and Thorpe Acre played a girls football fixture on Thursday 6th July. Stonebow looked to round off the years great performances with a win. Stonebow kept the ball brilliantly, making quick passes to one-another to cut through the Thorpe Acre midfield and defence. From the fast and controlled start to the game, Stonebow managed to score 3 goals inside the opening 4 minutes. Lauren and Freya managed to find the goal on their opening shots with Freya finding the goal twice.

Stonebow kept control of the game throughout the first half, creating many chances. The defence showed great concentration not switching off, stopping any counter attacks thrown their way. Nevaeh managed to get a goal after some great centre forward play throughout the first half. Before half time Freya managed to get herself a third goal and from this completing a first half hat-trick. Stonebow finished the half 6-0 up.

The break did not disrupt Stonebow’s play as the girls continued where they left off. The girls kept control of the game by keeping possession of the ball and passing around the Thorpe Acre team. From this Stonebow created many more chances and were unlucky not to score some more goals with the Thorpe Acre goalkeeper matching the shots from the Stonebow team.

The Stonebow team were now more determined than ever to score more goals, constantly putting on pressure to the Thorpe Acre defence. Lauren managed to add to her goal tally and grab herself a hat-trick. Eve found herself in a more advanced position during the game and managed to score, with a brilliant low finish.

The defence stayed solid throughout the second half, limiting and dealing with any chances Thorpe Acre created. Stonebow stayed on the offence and created even more chances, with Lauren scoring twice more to take her tally to 5 goals for the game and Lacey finished off the game with a goal too. Stonebow finished the 22-23 campaign with an unbelievable 11-0 win. All of the girls played incredible and perfected their roles for the game.
