For our children to achieve their potential through rich, high quality learning experiences in partnership with parents and the wider community.
The well-being of all pupils is supported through the provision of effective pastoral care and a strong and rigorous safeguarding ethos.
Easy access to the vibrant market town of Loughborough and learning visits to the local ‘Washlands’ nature reserve and adjacent forest provides opportunities that children will remember for many years. The very name of our school is taken from the ancient stone bridge that spans the nearby Blackbrook.
We embrace a wide variety of visitors; celebration days; school productions and sporting endeavours including partnerships with local businesses and the university. Specialist music, languages and sports teaching ensures that these subjects are key parts of developing cultural capital. Residential trips further afield are part and parcel of our school’s philosophy. However, we also take full advantage of Leicestershire’s own natural and historical wonders. Our children will have many memorable shared experiences to draw upon for years to come.
Our commitment to the children at Stonebow is to provide high quality inspirational teaching & learning, building firm foundations for continued growth and development.
By ensuring that key skills, core subjects and our wider curriculum is delivered to the highest standards, our children are empowered to learn through independent discovery. They are encouraged to take control of their own learning and through our ‘Stonebow Powers’ which encourages children to learn from their mistakes building on the knowledge they gain from subject to subject and year to year.
As positive role models, our staff demonstrate and ensure the very highest expectations of behaviour and positive attitudes to learning.
With a curriculum and ethos built around British Values; the principles of the rule of law and democratic society, equality and inclusiveness are at the heart of Stonebow’s culture. Our ethos is underpinned by the UNICEF rights respecting school’s standards.
We actively care about the environment, which is championed by our environmental ambassador pupil leaders.
We achieve together
A well-rounded depth and breadth of knowledge in the core subjects of Reading, Writing and Mathematics underpin access to the wider world and the wonders it provides.
As our children grow and mature into positive contributors to society; we can be proud that they are well and truly equipped for the many, varied roads (and bridges) ahead.
